We can see here that we fell into low levels of inflation after the financial crisis of 2008.  With the aid of Quantitative Easing and other montery policies put into place by the Federal Reserve, we were able to pull out of a economical crisis and have recovered from an impending economical collapse.  The European Central Bank is now also considering large scale asset purchasing to help deal with their financial difficulties and their decreasing inflation rates.
