Project #1350 on iSENSEProject.org
Students were asked to explore the concept of weight vs mass using metric measurement by weighing three objects: washer, rock and aluminum block. First, they were asked to estimate what they thought the item weighed in grams . Then they were asked to use a balance for weight and a spring scale for mass.
Guiding Questions:
1. What is the margin of error when asked to estimate the weight and mass of the washer?
2. Are weight and mass the same?
3. Which item did people estimate the closets to its actual weight?
4. which item did people estimate the closests to its actual mass?
