Description

As part of our studies in Chapter 1, Section 2 of the Chemical Building Blocks unit, students 1.) Measured Mass Directly, 2.) Measured Out a Substance, and 3.) Found Mass by Difference.  The data in this project was collected during part one, "Measuring Mass Directly.

Questions to consider while viewing the data:

How many groups measured each object?

What was the mean mass of the quarter? NIckel?  Paper Clip?  Why wouldn't you find the mean mass of the dime or penny?

Which measurement appears to be an outlier?  How could you determine if this measurement was an accurate measurement or a mistake?  If it was determined to be a mistake, what may have happened during the measurement process?
