Description

This is fictitious data.  The percentages in the Group names came from the website http://www.rightleftrightwrong.com/statistics.html, entitled "Right Left Right Wrong!"  They are the current statistics on Lateral Preferences.  The first three lines of data represent my class sizes and depict what the numbers would be expected if the statistics hold true.  When I do this lesson with my students I will add the data from each class.

INTRODUCTION

Did you know that in addition to being left or right handed, people can show other preferences for the left or the right?  For example, you can be left eared, right eyed, or left footed.  We will survey our class and find how many students fall into these categories?

1.  Write down a prediction as to whether you think people who are left handed will show a preference for the left in other characteristics (i.e. do you believe a left handed person will more likely be left eared, left eyed, etc. or do you believe they will be more likely to be right eyed or something else).

2.  Look at the data.  Is there any correlation between handedness and hand clasping?  Explain your answer using the information from the data?

3.  Choose two other categories and compare each to handedness.  What are the results?   Does the data support your prediction?  Use the data to support your answer.
