Description

As people, we are often looking to gain an advantage over others.  Often times this is through educated prediction.  The purpose of this lesson is have students see if there is a real pattern on random drawing or if it appears to be a 50/50 proposition, it is indeed  just that.

For this lesson each student will be given a penny and a nickel.

Students will be asked to estimate the amount of heads and tails that will occur if they flip a penny 20 times.

They will then be asked to estimate the results using a nickel(20 flips).

Is the estimation different?  Explain why or why not.

Next flip the penny 20 times and record the results in iSENSE.

Next flip the nickel 20 times and record those results in iSENSE.

Using the contribution key, record your data.  Be sure to title your data.  Save your data.

Using the visualization tool, use the bar and pie graph to look at your results.  Were your predictions accurate?

If you click updated data, did the graphs adjust?  Why ?
