Description

The objective is to recreate the numbers from Mendel's F2 cross of hybrid tall pea plants. The students will have two bags which will represent the parent plants. Each bag will contain 1 white and one mulit-colored marble. They will represent the dominant and recessive alleles respectively. The students will draw one marble from each bag, record the results and then replace the marble. This will be entered in iSense, This will be repeated 99 more times.

The data will be viewed to see if Mendel's outcome of 25% homozygous tall, 50% heterozygous tall and 25% short. The students will view and analyze their data and then the class totals.

The analysis will include comparisons of individual group data as well as their own and class total.

How closely did the group's data come to the expected?

Did any of the individual groups come up with the expected results?

How closely did the class totals come to the expected?

What does this say about expected results and larger test results?
