Project #1567 on iSENSEProject.org
Overview: At times data can be definitive in finding answers while at other times data can be a factor but personal preference can also have an impact. For this project students will look at data, gather facts and then make a choice of a vehicle. They will then be asked to rationalize their choice. Factors should include environmental issues as well as price. For the students: Car shopping can be quite a tedious task. Consumers sometimes choose a vehicle for style, color, make, model, year etc. For this project, the top 10 economy rated cars are compared as judged by www.autobytel.com, one of the leaders in the car ratings industry. As you examine the data keep the following questions in mind. What car has the highest city mpg? What car has the highest highway mpg? What car is the least expensive? Which car is the most expensive? Compare the gas mileage of the car with the highest city mpg with the lowest city mpg. Why do you the numbers are so different? From the data supplied, which vehicle would you choose? Why?
