Project #1585

Description

This project started out to be comparative data of polar bear populations over time. I was shocked to find that this data is not really available! Some locations have no data available, others have data no more recent than 1994, All data appears to be estimated, averaged, or another form of educated guess. So instead, this project shows only the most recent data available about where the polar bears are. The year is provided only as a reference and should not be used in any graphs, as it is inconsistent. My plan is to use this next year when 7th grade takes on life sciences and the effect of environmental changes on animal populations.

Guiding questions:

1) In what specific location are most of the polar bears currently located? Where did you find this information? (There is more than one graph).

2) Geographically, where on earth are all polar bears generally located?

3) More than 50% of the polar bears are located in the 4 most populated areas. What are these areas?
