Project #1612 on iSENSEProject.org
The American Revolution began in 1775 with the battles of Lexington and Concord and ended in 1781 with the British surrender after the battle at Yorktown, Virginia. The Treaty of Paris, signed in September 3, 1783, was the treaty by which Great Britain officially recognized American independence.
In this project, you will learn about the battles fought during the revolution, which side (colonist or British) won each battle, where the battles took place and the number of casualties on each side.
Questions to Consider...
1. Looking at the default visualization and the deaths of both colonists and British, which battles seem to have the biggest discrepancies between colonist and British deaths?
2. Overall, which years seem to have been the bloodiest, in terms of deaths?
3. Which colonies seem to have had the most battles?
4. Which side had the most casualties from the battles the colonists won? How about from the battles the British won?
5. What battle was the bloodiest?
