Project #1640 on iSENSEProject.org
This project was created to help me answer student questions! As we are entering a unit on the period table, students often ask "where can you find (insert element name here)?" For many elements, that answer is not easy. For metals, it is only a google search away, and the answers to some of the more popular ones are now centrally located here! (P.S. I realize that diamonds are not metals, but that question comes up every year!)
Data was gathered from several pages in: http://www.mining-technology.com/
and in http://www.mining.com/the-worlds-top-10-gold-mines/
Guiding questions:
1. Which countries appear to have the biggest variety of metals? (make sure you group by metal)
2. Which metals are commonly found in the U.S.? In North America?
3. Which country has the most copper mines? (You can zoom in on the map).
4. Where is the world's largest diamond mine? (Trying grouping by rank).
