Description

The following visualization is depicts Ms. Brady's commute home. Use this information to work with your table group and answer the questions that follow.

1) Ms. Brady left Methuen high school at 6:10 pm and arrived at her home at 7:05 pm. The total distance she traveled on her commute home was 29.2 miles. Calculate her average rate of travel in miles per hour.

2) Ms. Brady stopped for gas at Wave on Howe St. before she got on the highway to go home. She spent exactly 4 minutes at the gas station. Does this change her average rate of travel? Why or why not? Recalculate her average rate of travel if necessary.

3) After she got off the highway she stopped at Stop & Shop to get groceries for dinner. She spent exactly 9 minutes in the grocery store. Does this change her average rate of travel? Why or why not? Recalculate her average rate of travel if necessary.
