Description

This shows the extent of the ice cover in the northern and southern hemispheres. The data spans 1979 through 2015.

The data was obtained from https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/snow-and-ice/extent/sea-ice/S/10 and manually inputted.

The students can answer the following questions.

Which hemisphere has a larger ice cover?

Which hemisphere has suffered the higher loss of area?

Did the greatest cover occur in the same year for the two hemisphere? Give data to support the answer.

Did the least cover in the same year for each hemisphere? Give data to support the answer.

Draw a line of best fit. What is the trend?
