Project #3248 on iSENSEProject.org
Every year during the atomic structure unit, I discussion Nuclear Power with my students. After learning how to balance and write nuclear equations, our conversations center around the pros and cons of using Nuclear Power. This project is a visual aid for the beginning of that discussion. My intention is to use it as a classroom opener, providing each student with a data set to become an expert in (1-33) and the questions below will be used to start our discussions.
The data for this project was retrieved from the following website:
The Guardian: Nuclear power plant accidents: listed and ranked since 1952
Opener Questions:
1. Which area of the world shows the highest number of nuclear accidents?
2. Which accidents have an INES rating of 5 or higher? Describe what happened at each of these locations.
3. Which area of the world show the least number of nuclear accidents? Why do you think this is?
