Description

Students have been studying volcanoes in science and have worked in the art room on constructing their own volcano. Each student was assigned an active volcano in the United States to research. They worked in pairs to complete a questionnaire about their volcano.

Students logged into iSense to view the defaulted map. This allowed them to see where their volcano was located in relation to the other volcanoes assigned. We talked about trends that we saw regarding the location of the volcanoes and why that may be. They were then allowed to explore the map and other features to answer a few simple questions about the visualizations.

4-ESS2-2 Analyze and interpret maps of Earth's mountain ranges, deep ocean trenches, volcanoes, and earthquake epicenters to describe patterns of these features and their locations relative to boundaries between continents and oceans.
