Description

Data retrieved from US Census Bureau on 10/30/17 and Google Maps

https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/fact/table/providencecityrhodeisland,DC/PST045216

The project addresses Grade 4 Massachusetts Social Studies Curriculum Framework:

4.CS.1 Use map and globe skills to determine absolute locations (latitude and longitude) of places studied     4.10 Identify the states, state capitals, and major cities in each region.

4.9 On a map of North America...locate the states of the Midwest, Northeast, Southeast, Southwest and West regions of the United States, in addition to the six states of New England.

Guiding Questions: 1)Are most of the state capitals located in the center of the state?

2) The larger the land area of the city, the larger the population of the city. Is this a true statement? Give an example from the visualization to explain your answer.

3) Which New England capital city has the largest population?
