This data comes from Baseball Reference, summarizing stats from Major League Baseball across the league for the period from 1985 to 2022. (The pandemic-shortened 2020 season is missing from this table.)

I uploaded this data to look at changes in game duration over time. The saved visualizations here show a steady increase in the duration of games (in hours) per nine innings. There's been a corresponding increase in the number of pitchers used per game.
The 2023 season is likely to produce a major decrease in the length of games, due to the implementation of a pitch clock.
