  • Prof. Robert Kamiński - Department of Theory of Structure of Matter - The H. Niewodniczański Institute of Nuclear Physics - Polish Academy of Sciences - Kraków, Poland
  • Prof. Fred Martin - Professor and Department Chair, Computer Science - University of Texas at San Antonio (USA)
Keywords: App Inventor, Artificial Intelligence, iSENSE, CREDO Project, cosmic rays, earthquakes, citizen science, smartphones

Summary: The CREDO (Cosmic Ray Extremely Distributed Observatory) project studies cosmic radiation that reaches us all the time from all over the Universe. One of the elements that may be associated with this radiation is the still unknown and still searched for dark matter, which may be supermassive particles from the early Universe. Their decay can cause short impacts of high-energy particles across the Earth.
The CREDO Detector Mobile App enables anyone with a smartphone to join this research. High school students have enhanced this app using App Inventor and AI to better filter data, contributing to a global scientific effort to understand cosmic phenomena and their potential links to events like earthquakes. This project exemplifies the power of collaborative science and education.
