Project #744 on iSENSEProject.org
PHA's Internet connection is being upgraded on 11/2.
The 9th Grade Computer Science class is going to take this opportunity to do some measurements and look at the data. We will also be trying out the iSense tool which allows many different people to collect data, share it and analyze it. I am inviting Science and Math teachers to contribute to this project as a way to evaluating whether the iSense tool might be useful in our classrooms.
To contribute you need to run speed tests on your computer on Friday 10/31 then again after the upgrade (5-7 days from now).
Go to: http://www.speedtest.net/ and run a Speed Test from inside the school. When it's done, click Share Your Data then open the url in a new tab. This will have the timestamp and all the info you need.
To enter data, under "Contribute Data" put in your contributor code then click on "Manual Entry" and enter your results. You will need the contributor key in the email I sent.
For type of computers.
Teachers use your school laptop and choose "Laptop" and "Individual"
Hints:
You will need to take the time from SpeedTest and reformat it according the directions.
Don't write the units, just the numbers.
Put your name as the your dataset name.
Computer Science students will test on the Room 305 computers and Chromebooks. We will also be testing with everyone doing their own test at their own time and trying to synchronize our tests.
Thanks!
Ms. Meeks
