The relationship that exists between distance traveled in miles and time spent traveling in minutes is shown here as distance to work being a linear function of commute to work (f(x) = 0.6428x + -0.9674.  However, there are some factors, such as stops made along the way, the amount of traffic encountered, and the route taken (highway or backroads), and the speed of travel that account for this.
